On the day that we visited the site, it was a miserable day; it was cold and raining. The area was very deserted and it gave me a big sense of abandonment. There where no people walking around besides for a few and it looked like none of the factories were vacant.

ReplyDeleteI know i'm not the best speller, but need to spell check your drawings before publishing them 'abandonment'. Also do you mean that none of the factories were in use?
I can see how you got the abandoned feeling for the site, but i feel your collage isn;t particularly evocative. Maybe it needs to be more grey and moody to give more of a sense of desertion and neglect. Though i do like that you have considered materials (close up image of paving).
Do you have any sketches of your impressions when you were on site? these could be laid over the images.
Did light factor into your site impression? dusty, crisp, contrasting etc.

ReplyDeleteThe collage relates with the title you had given. As suggested above you can relate much more with artistic interventions such as use of grey tone while creating a mood.
Keep the good work going.
