Since our project site is located on the water, we had to do some research on a waterfront project in another state. Our group had the Baltimore Harbor Project, whose intentions where to clean up the neighboring land and make it safer so more people to visit. This waterfront project is closely linked to the project my class is in the process of doing because we are trying to design a structure, that will make the area more popular to the neighboring residences.
Hi Patrick! I just took a look through all of the work thus far this semester and it looks like you have a pretty exciting project on your hands! I'm very intrigued with the idea of a sports complex that also functions to provide a healthy community space. It's a great blend of program and I'm interested to see where you take it!
ReplyDeleteI have a few questions for you - which you don't need to answer. They're just something to get you thinking.
For your precedents analysis - What did you learn? Did you find anything in common between the building mass and it's floor plan? Or did you see a relationship between each project? Do you know roughly how many SF each building is? Starting to wrap your head around space requirements this early in the game will really help the flexibility of your design later!
And for the above Baltimore Harbor - What conclusions did you draw? Was the project successful? If so, for what reasons? I think this was a great precedent to get you thinking about how you may treat your harbor front!
Good luck with the semester Patrick, I'll be following closely!
